Pastries, people, and potlucks: the makings of a good time!

Something I really got into last year (ironically, because of going on a diet - which, obviously, went by the wayside!!) was cooking.  So here are a small collection of pictures of, or based around, FOOD!  :)

I did homemade cinnamon rolls one day (one of Bill's favorites).  Way too many for us so had to share with a few fellow campers.  They aren't baked yet in this photo, and neither did they have the finishing touch of cream cheese frosting...but they looked neato  ;)

A contribution to one of the Sunday potlucks.  Pretty, right?

The aftermath.  Not so pretty...(but rewarding, for the cook!)

The Three Amigos:  John (fellow RC planer), wife Char (-lotte), and Billy.

Tractor (and friends - Eric & Merry's little girl Squeek, in Uncle Jim's lap, Jim and Sheila's daughter - and Zou's BFF - Lexie in bottom right) get to do potlucks occasionally too.

Tracky scores!

Scratty gets in on the action as well...

Lexie, surrounded by her new cat friends...

If you're going to do all that eating, you really should get some exercise.  At least that's what Scratty says.  But she didn't eat at the potluck - we did.  So she clarifies that WE should do the pedaling, while she sits in the basket and navigates...!!

And Tractor, being his dad's boy, knows that Bill would opt for something motorized instead and so readies himself in the golf cart trailer...

 Another admirer...

So yeah, I'm all about desserts...!  And chocolate...!!!!

Char snags one of the brownies (made with Andes chocolate mints.  They weren't very good....  Ha-ha!  Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!  Well, actually Bill doesn't like them, but he sometimes has very strange taste buds!  I CAN say there weren't any left over...).  Those of us with a good learning aptitude (and a serious sweet tooth...) quickly discovered that waiting to visit the dessert section till after the main meal was just plain stupid.

One of my favorite fancy desserts to make - a fruit tart.  Not only do most people really like eating them, but you can get artistic with making them!  Change it up, use whatever fruit, in whatever pattern.

Another favorite of Bill's (and some other folks...) is pecan pie, and I had enough fixings for two, so I attempted a double decker set-up in our little convection oven.  I thought those pies would never cook/solidify!  And as usual with that scenario, they ended up overcooked instead!  Sort of like those cold, cloudy days where I end up getting sunburned!?!
