Today it begins again. And ends. We're looking forward to our upcoming adventures, but it was with a heavy heart that I left the yurt today. I hate to leave my people, the gorgeous, private, peaceful, wild place that we call home for about half the year, the space, the hot tub, the reliable water pressure, the smell-free toilet (until cleaning time, that is...), the light openness, critter sightings (including our bats in the window flaps), the ability to let Senny out to wander and do her thing whenever, and of course the comforts of familiarity. But we will soon enjoy meeting up with old and new friends again, revisiting favorite places and exploring the unknown, not having to go out for propane, water, gas, etc. every few days, not having to start the generator at a moment's notice because the power's run low, not having to put up with the summer heat, foxtails, and flies that are all so prevalent at the yurt - or watch out for the occasional rattlesnake, not having to be stingy with our water use, having an almost regular-sized frig, not having such a long drive to get anywhere, and hopefully getting some good photo ops this fall in the Tetons and Yellowstone. And for the four months or so that we're gone, we'll be praying that our yurt and the surroundings will still be there when we get back, untouched by fire.
So, for those who care to join us on our wanderings, here we go again!
Moved in. First night.
LOL. Some real excitement there. Where's Scratty? Oh, taking the picture?
